Paying for treatment

As well as being seen and treated quickly, deciding to be treated privately also means you can choose which specialist consultant you see.

Professor Chapman-Sheath sees private patients with insurance and those who may wish to self-pay.

You do not always need to be referred to Philip by your GP, but the British Medical Association (BMA) believes it’s ‘best practice’ if you are, simply because your GP knows your medical history and will usually know the specialism and reputations of consultants in local private practice. In addition, Philip sees many patients who self refer, or are referred by allied health professionals such as physiotherapists, sports physicians, osteopaths, chiropractors and sports rehabilitation teams.

If you have private medical insurance

Professor Chapman-Sheath is recognised by ALL major Private Medical Insurers, however each health plan is different and some insurance policies may also have an excess. If you are unsure, please check with your provider regarding your specific requirements and policy.

  • IT’S ALL ABOUT PATIENT CHOICE
  • Some private medical insurance policies will try to limit your choice of private consultants, and some will ask you use one of the consultants chosen by them – they may only give you an option of two or three local specialists. You can, however, insist you have your treatment with Mr Chapman-Sheath.
  • COMPLETE CLARITY OF COSTS
  • You may find that your insurer will not always cover the full cost of your treatment. If this is the case, we will keep you fully informed of how much any excess costs may be, so you won’t receive any unexpected bills and can proceed towards treatment with confidence.

Self-pay provides a transparent and straightforward pricing structure for patients who do not have health insurance or are not adequately insured and who want a fast diagnosis, test or procedure.
